Today in ELA...
1. We completed independent silent reading for approximately 15 minutes.
2. We recorded a definition and discussed the usage of the WORD of the DAY -ACRID - please see WORD of the DAY in GC if you are absent. Add the Word of the Day to your list started earlier this year in your writing notebook OR begin a new list.
3. We briefly wrote about and discussed the concept of "Living Simply" and the meaning of "retreat" and vocabulary words= combustion, scarcity and aquifer.
4. We defined carbon footprint and discussed the ways people can reduce their carbon footprint through lifestyle choices.
4. We read a portion of "Never Retreat" from Eyes Wide Open (into Literature ) pp. 328-334. Please see attached reading.

Think about what it would mean to live a "simple life." What would that mean or look like to you? What would you find easy and difficult to give up and why?
