Religion
Students will…
- Recognize that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life who teaches us how to live
- Experience participation in Liturgies and Prayer Services
- Understand and apply the Beatitudes and Ten Commandments in their daily lives
- Recognize various Saints and Martyrs of the Church
- Recognize that what we believe, how we worship, live, and pray makes a difference in our lives
- Recognize that feelings are a gift from God, and that being pure of heart, and living the virtue of modesty helps us to express our feelings as God wants
- Understand that the Holy Spirit’s gifts and the sacraments will strengthen us
- Learn about and celebrate the cycle of the liturgical year
Reading and Language Arts
Students will…
- Be able to read orally and to comprehend what was read
- Use the writing process of prewriting, writing, revising, editing, and presenting
- Know and use correct grammar and parts of speech to write effectively
- Discuss and respond to a variety of literature
- Demonstrate the ability to use a dictionary and thesaurus
- Identify nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs
- Use a combination of word analysis and vocabulary strategies to identify words
- Reinforce legible handwriting and forming difficult connections
Social Studies
Students will…
- Learn about the state of Illinois: geography, history, and contributions to our country
- Identify and differentiate between the New England, North Central, and Southwest regions of the United States and recognize their characteristics and contributions
- Recognize and understand the physical features of the Earth
- Understand the five themes of geography
- Understand current events
- Learn about the continent of North America and the continents of Canada, Mexico, and the United States
Mathematics

- Use whole-number arithmetic to solve word problems, including problems with remainders and problems with measurement
- Add and subtract whole numbers quickly and accurately

- Understand and apply equivalent fractions
