7th and 8th grade social studies curriculum

The 7th grade curriculum begins with America’s struggle for Independence, and forming of a nation. Students will embark on an in-depth study of the Constitution following its inception chronologically, culminating with the mandated test. 7th grade will conclude its study of U.S. history with the Civil War. 

Curriculum will include implementation of a variety of effective study skills- note taking, projects, and various assessments to develop a more complex understanding of the content.


The 8th grade curriculum begins with Westward Expansion, through the Vietnam War and concludes with the Illinois Constitution test.  They also will be engaging in an in-depth study of the Illinois Constitution and take the mandated test. 

Students will demonstrate competency through comprehension, note taking, projects, and various assessments.
